Floyd feels Self Contradiction Again

It is the exciting season for the boxing world..

Undefeated Boxing Champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. as interviewed by the media said, “Manny Pacquiao…yes you’re the next! We only want to fight the biggest and the best out there”. He affirmed these statements during his promotional tour in Los Angeles on to advertise his upcoming fight against WBC Welterweight Boxer Victor Ortiz on June 30, 2011.

The boxing analyst thought that at last, Pacquiao and Mayweather will set up their signatures on the dotted line, tie up he gloves, and show their skill in boxing as to prove of who is the best fighter in the world.

Earlier to the statement he uttered in Los Angeles, Floyd once said he “absolutely want to fight Manny”. But it seems that Floyd will not engage the Filipino dervish if he successfully defeat Victor Ortiz this Saturday, September 17th in Las Vegas.

During his recent media workout in his very own boxing gym in Las Vegas, he added, “I never said Manny Pacquiao is next. Stop putting words in my mouth. Nothing is a precursor”. Floyd possesses a history of self oppositions where he says one thing the other day and mouths something different the next day.

He also mentioned his fight with Manny remains one of his leftovers. Included in his list are Oscar dela Hoya and Ricky Hatton. Didn’t Mayweather fight Juan Manuel Marquez, who had to go up beyond the comforts of the lightweight limit? Pacquaio and Marquez fought twice. Does that fact make him a Pacquiao leftover?

He refuses telling Pacquiao’s success at higher weight classes were supported by unnatural and illegal substances. But he clearly implied that when he said “the Philippines got the best performance-enhancing drugs” during a radio interview in late 2009.

MAYWEATHER vs. ORTIZ: The Battle

Las Vegas Let's get ready to rumble! While the boxing world focuses on the upcoming match between boxer-congressman Manny Pacquiao and Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez, another match is just a few days away–but not getting as much hype.

Former pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going up against Victor Ortiz on September 17 in Las Vegas. Despite this, the buzz among boxing fans remains the same–their hope that the much-touted “Fight of the Century” will materialize.

“Pacquiao’s going to have a difficult fight with Marquez,” said Richard Schaeffer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions that is handling the Mayweather-Ortiz bout. “Let those guys fight and we’ll wait and see.”

“”We are focusing on this fight (between Mayweather and Ortiz). Ortiz is actually getting a bit upset about people taking about Mayweather versus Pacquiao, like almost ignoring him,” added Schaeffer.

Filipino boxing fans said they are not too keen on catching the Mayweather-Ortiz bout. “I’ll wait until (Mayweather) fights Pacquiao,” said boxing enthusiast Ramon Lim. “With Ortiz (versus Mayweather), you already know the results so I probably won’t watch it.”
